New York! New York! New York!

Last night I had a dream that recurred twice before a year ago. I have tried to make sense of it and figure out how I am going to make it a reality. I believe dreams are special signs and I always pay attention to their message. Was this dream a reflection of my past, present or future? I wondered.

“Write and go to New York.”
Write – what could this mean? I thought. I am not a Writer; I am a freelance Production Manager. Changing career to become a writer right now considering the fact that I am a single working mother could be a daunting affair. True but writing may be my ultimate destiny. Let’s rewind, I remember in primary school when i wrote my autobiography and my English teacher marked it with an A and said that my writing was open and honest and she looked forward to see me published one day. I enjoyed writing, I used to keep a journal and I would hide it I my wardrobe for my eyes only. Then one day my aunt found it and read all the dreadful things I said about her. She confronted me, scolded me and I felt like I had committed a crime for revealing my feelings on a pieces of paper which hurt her. These feelings where outbursts of anger and the only way I knew to deal with them then was to write about them until I eventually came to my senses. The evidence was undeniable so I pleaded guilty and I was charged to imprisonment and it was then I decided never to write again. Pause a minute but she invaded my privacy, shouldn’t she be imprisoned too? Its sixteen years later, I know better, time to move on and catch up on my writing. This is what I enjoyed most – it’s never too late!
Go to New York. Why? I love travelling and I have being lucky to have the opportunity to travel some of Europe and Africa but I have not really being longing to go to the United States of America. Most youngsters I know are sucked into the American popular culture but I am not and neither am I in a rush to get there, every city I have lived is infested with America n popular culture. I have heard about New York from television shows, movies and friends who have visited and they love it. My ex ex ex said that I too would love it and fit in. I have never being curious enough to google New York though after last night’s vivid dream maybe I should. Actually do you live in New York? Have you visited New York? Tell me about it – I would rather hear from you than rely on what google has to say. My third dream was a nonstop recital of the words ‘New York.’ It was as if was counting one hundred and eight times on my mala whilst reciting my mantra. Now was I once upon a time living in New York in my past life or am I influenced in my present life or am I destined to be there in my future life? The mysteries of the unknown. Time will tell...

I want to be a Writer…

I want to be a Writer but I am lazy to practice. Why is that we want things instantly and are too lazy to work for them?  It dawned on me the other day when a friend of mine suggested that i practice my writing every day so that I can exercise my writing skills and eventually become the writer I want to be, a best seller author like my favourite author, Paulo Coelho. Most writers or wannabe writers are blogging these days so I thought this may be a platform where I can not only exercise my writing skills but also get feedback from you! Regardless of what I write about I will always write with love and light hence the name of my blog. Paulo Coelho quotes in his book, Like the Flowing River that we must let the universe move around us and discover the joy of surprising ourselves. He goes on to say that repeated experiences have but one aim: to teach us what we have not learned.
I love quotes! Over time I have come upon motivating and inspiring quotes that have resonated with what I am going through in my life and ignited aha moments!
